For a good Peak heating by Bulk pasteurization in
Skierniewice –Poland- April 1979
Technical note (from D. Sourty to DARMYCEL)
I Filling peak-heating room:
Extraction
fan on
Main
fan on full fresh air
Probes
tested. Sensors should have been well checked and a non electric measure must
be available for both compost and air temperature.
II After sensor settled and door
closed
Stop
extraction fan and do not use it more
Close
cracks in the door
Put
main fan on full recirculation for half an hour and take note of all
temperatures in the air and in the compost.
III Getting high temperature
Steam
is open and temperature will rise in both compost and air
(there is an option of putting
thermostat monitoring heating battery on 50°C)
IV Stopping
steam
Before
temperature gets 60°C, steam must be stopped and, at the same time, fresh air
can be opened near 25%.
If this is
done when air and compost are passing 55°C ( or one of them two is passing
58°C), the temperature of air and compost will pass 60°C and stabilize between
60°C and 65°C.
Sensors
should have been well checked and a non electric measure must be available for
both compost and air temperature.
V Getting
middle temperature
When all
compost temperatures and air temperature have been above 60°C for 6 or 12
hours, fresh air can be open at about 75% (heating battery and steam being
stopped).
After a
time, temperatures will begin to lower.
VI Conditioning
Before
temperatures lower to 55°C (about half way between the maximum temperature and
52°C.), fresh air is reduced to near 50%.
Temperatures
will stabilize around 55°C.
Then, all
temperatures must be stable, loosing just 1°C. or 2°C. per day.
